I’ve been quietly eyeing Minx on celebrities and the fashion elite for many many months now. Cruising one day on twitter, I happened up a woman in Philly who does the coveted Minx Manicure as a mobile service. I was too excited once I got in contact with her! Luckily for me, she was able to fit me in and came over my house today to give me the wonderful glittery nails I have been salivating over!
I had a difficult time taking pics that would do the Minx justice, but I managed to take two that can show you the general idea. Trust me, they look like 1000% better in person! I got a mixed manicure with a plaid pattern on my thumbs, pinkie and middle fingers, and the chrome or silver finish on the other nails.
If you’re in the Philly area and want to be Minxed, Contact Philadelphia’s only “mobile” Minx service at PhillyMinx@Gmail.com. Tell her Aronda sent you She’s also on “the Book” at www.facebook.com/PhillyMinx

I was watching Monica’s show, Still Standing, and couldn’t help but notice her beautiful nails! She wore a tonal blue manicure that I thought was fun and looked really pretty, so I decided to try it. Just in case you didn’t see the show, here is episode #2. You can see her blue nails right at the beginning of the episode.
Ok. So I used China Glaze colors to copy this look and I think I nailed it pretty darn close! I used Shower Together for the dark blue and For Audrey for the light blue.
Here is the finished look. I really like it! I think I’m going to try to do another manicure using this same idea, just different colors. Stay tuned!

I am aware of how crazy that sounds! As you know if you’re at all familiar with my blog: I never do nail art. This is my first attempt at doing something a little different. I wanted to do a dark, vampy, glittery manicure for this first week of November, and this is what I came up with.
I used OPI Midnight in Moscow for the base, China Glaze Grape Juice for the tip and did a glitter topcoat using OPI Text you Text me. Over all, I think it turned out pretty cool, even though the camera really didn’t do it justice. Enjoy!

Many of you know that I used to post nail polish pics from my personal blog, Bella in the City. However, because I started this blog, now I will only post nail polish and beauty from Aronda MUA. With that being said, There are some pics that never made it to my BIC blog that I’m going to share with you today. Hope you enjoy!
NYX Cancun Pink
Sally Hansen Uptempo Plum
I didn’t particularly like either of these colors. Of course the pink is good, but it wasn’t special you know? Every polish company around makes pink but this one is just unremarkable in my opinion. This was my first polish from NYX and I just wasn’t impressed so I’m not sure if I’ll order any more from them. As far as the Sally Hansen, I hate the brush with a passion, it puts way too much polish on at once and I just didn’t like it at all. The color was too dark, perhaps if I try it again in the winter I may like it. Who knows?

Zoya had a little contest last month where they offered 3 bottles of free nail polish to their twitter followers if they reached 5,000 followers by a certain date and time. They were successful and so was I! I was able to score 9 new bottles of polish by using the special code 3 times and therefore have many many new shades to share!
I have always admired Zoya polishes from afar but this is my first time actually owning them. I must say I am extremely impressed with the bottles, the colors, the formula, everything! They have truly made a repeat customer out of me. If you’re hesitant to try Zoya, please don’t be. They are amazing.
Zoya Raven is a soft black with radiant subtle shimmer that applied like a dream. I think this is the perfect black for my skin tone because it’s not flat and glimmers in the sun.
I tried out something a little different with this manicure that was actually inspired by Antonia Carter of the Tiny and Toya show on BET. I noticed that she wears one shiny gold minx nail sometimes with her manicures, and I think it looks super cute. So I tried something similar, but with http://images.shareapic.net/images4/014024373.jpga shiny silver pinky. And it’s not minx either, it’s Zoya Trixie, which is a super shiny shimmery silver! What do you think??
OPI released a late Summer 2009 Collection called SunBelievable last month, and I’ve been slow to get my hands on it. I actually kinda fell away from OPI as a brand because of it’s expense. I find there are other brands that are just as good without being as expensive, such as Orly and China Glaze.
However, the quality of OPI’s formula and color selection cannot be ignored by someone such as myself who claims to be a lover of all things lacquer! Since I am a cosmetology student, I have been allowed access to Professional beauty supply wholesale stores, which has allowed me to find OPI polishes at an extremely amazing price, so you will see more of them on this site.
I will admit, this is the first time I have purchased a yellow nail polish that I actually liked! Usually I think my nails just look like they’ve been in the sun too long and look crazy, but this shade is buttery smooth and I really liked it. I also got another shade from this collection as well, and will be posting it soon.

Strawberry Acai from Essie is one of the special edition Jello colors that I won in a contest just about a week ago. It’s a pretty bright red creme shade that applied very easily as Essie polish always does.
Those of you who know me know that I’m not too fond of red nails. I think it makes me look too grown or something.. idk. I never get compliments on red. I think it’s just too regular and people kinda expect bright or deep colors on me because that’s what I usually rock.
However, because I won this polish from Essie, I decided to wear it. I think it’s a pretty color for someone else, just not really for me. I’ve had it on for about 4 days now, and I’m glad to take it off today. I like to wear the polish for a while before I post it just to share any reactions, and I have received zero reaction from this polish.
It’s nice because it’s exclusive, and I’m proud to own it. Hopefully when we get to manicuring in school someone will want to use it b/c it’s going straight into my working nail polish stash.
I told you guys I scored some nail polish, and I didn’t want to delay in showing it to you guys! I messed up my manicure putting lashes on someone so I had to change it anyway. That darn eyelash glue does NOT come off of nails easily like hair glue!
These two shades are from Orly’s Fall 2009 Once Upon A Time Collection which is why I decided to show them this way. I’m not actually going to wear them right now because frankly they are very dark and Fall like, hence the Fall collection status..lol. Prince Charming is a really nice milk chocolate creme shade, and the Enchanted Forest is an intense emerald green creme that looks amazing with my skin tone I think.
I just wanted to give you guys a preview based on what I was able to get my hands on. The collection contains 6 shades with a Fairy tale theme. I absolutely love the colors I’m showing you today. Each bottle came with a cute little charm attached that kinda fit the theme of the color.
Prince Charming has a crown charm, and Enchanted Forest has a butterfly charm. Very cute though I can’t imagine that I’ll actually use them. I can’t wait for some cold weather so I can actually rock these colors!
A few months back, I entered a contest given by Essie brand nail polish to win a bottle of nail polish that was part of a special 2 color collection only available through the contest. Essie had partnered up with Jello for their Jello RedHaute Flavors of Summer contest. To enter, you had to come up with a new flavor of Jello and enter a UPC from a Jello box.
I tried my luck and quickly forgot all about it as I do with just about every contest I enter. I never expect to actually win. However, when I checked my mail today there was a little package waiting for me from Essie with a bottle of the Strawberry Acai (described as a rich, juicy berry shade) special edition nail polish!I was one of 2,000 winners, so shout out to all the other winners of the contest! Actually the nail polish was first prize. The grand prize was a years worth of manicures and like a years worth of Jello. I am very happy I won first prize, and will be showing you guys a swatch of the polish very soon. Until then…

Mint Mojito is from Orly’s Summer 2009 Tiki Time Collection which included 4 bright creme shades. This is the only one I have from this collection and judging by how much I love this, I probably need to check out the other 3 shades!
I have been wearing this color for about 2 days now, and I fall more in love with it each time I look at my hands! It’s the prettiest almost “Kermit the Frog” bright green creme shade and I absolutely adore it. These types of colors are right up my alley. I love it bright and sassy on my nails in the summer!
I always bring my own nail polish to the salon when I get my feet or hands done, and I picked this shade while wearing a green shirt. Everyone kept asking me if green was my favorite color! That cracked me up all day…anyone who knows me knows my favorite color is pink!
Since I got this polished at the salon when I got my pedicure, (I used the Mint Mojito on my toesies also!) I have no clue which base and topcoat was used. You know how they act all secretive with stuff in those unmarked bottles! Next time I’ll probably bring my Seche Clear and Vite so I can be assured of what goes on my digits next time! Until then…
